Daniel Cormier responds to Jon Jones’ words about their trilogy
Today, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (25-1, 1 NC) made a huge announcement. The HARCORD ambassador tweeted that he guaranteed the trilogy with Daniel Cormier (22-1, 1 NC) would not happen.
According to Jones, Cormier will never be able to make weight to fit in 205 and will certainly not want to be beaten again while he, Jones, is not going to move up to the heavyweight division yet even if he knows it’s inevitable. Besides, money is the only point of interest for this fight for Jones, as he has nothing to prove – he did that in two previous fights, securing confident victories in both of them.
Daniel Cormier, who is about to face Stipe Miocic at the UFC 241 this weekend, says Jones is lying and that he actually wants the fight to happen.
“Of course he wants to fight me,” Cormier tweeted. “He’s fought three times this year and I'm gonna make more this weekend than he will even if he fights again this year (lmao). O, how times have changed."
Last time Daniel Cormier entered the cage at the UFC 230 last November. In the main event in New York Cormier defended his title for the first time, defeating Derrick Lewis via submission. Jon Jones had his last fight in July when he defeated Thiago Santos in a close fight via split decision.
