Top UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis (22-7, 1 NC) would like to welcome Ilir Latifi (14-7, 1 NC) in the heavyweight division. “The Black Beast” may have a fight against Latifi at the event that’s going to take place in Houston, Texas, on February 8.
Even though the event wasn’t officially announced, the rumors have it that the PPV tournament UFC 247 is going to be held in Houston at that time. In the main event of the night Jon Jones is presumably going to defend his title against Dominick Reyes in a light heavyweight title fight.
According to multiple sources, the contracts for the fight haven’t been signed yet but the opponents have come to a verbal agreement. Derrick Lewis had his last fight at the UFC 244 on November 2. He faced former WSOF champion Blagoy Ivanov whom he defeated via split decision in a close fight. Thus, Lewis got back to the winning streak after two losses to Daniel Cormier and Junior Dos Santos.
Ilir Latifi performed in the UFC light heavyweight division since he was signed by the promotion in 2013. He had 12 bouts inside of the Octagon, earning the record of 7-5. In his last two fights Latifi couldn’t succeed; he lost to Corey Anderson and Volkan Oezdemir, being knocked out by the latter in the second round. Before that Ilir Latifi was on a two-fight win streak over Tyson Pedro and Ovince St. Preux.
