Jairzinho Rozenstruik wants to fight Francis Ngannou at UFC 249
Top UFC heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik (10-0) has announced that he would like to fight Francis Ngannou (14-3) at the upcoming UFC 249 event. Initially, the two was supposed to fight in the main event of the UFC on ESPN 8 that was supposed to happen on March 28 but the UFC had to cancel the event due to coronavirus. Rozenstruik is ready to fight on a later date.
“We’re doing what we have to do, keeping training, waiting for an update. Now we’ve slowed the pace a little bit down and as soon as we have an update, we’ll squeeze it back up and we’re on. So we’re ready for whatever.
“I’d be happy to dance 18th of April. I can’t wait for this [fight] to happen because we’ve been working hard for it and the fun has to come out right now. It’s about time.
“A couple days ago [the UFC] called and they said the situation - maybe a month or later [is when we will fight]. So we’re waiting for an actual date so we know when we’re gonna dance. . . The situation is crazy. I really want to dance and then go back to the family and get back to normal and hope the situation settles up really fast,” Rozenstruik said.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik comes undefeated with four wins secured in the UFC. He had his last fight in December when he faced Alistair Overeem whom he knocked out four seconds before the end of the fifth round while losing the fight by points.
As for Francis Ngannou, he last stepped inside the Octagon last June when he defeated Junior dos Santos by TKO in the first round.
