Justin Gaethje: “On planet Earth there are only two people that McGregor will possibly fight”
Top UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje (21-2) pulled three spectacular knockouts in the first rounds of his last three fights which allowed him to go up to the fourth position in the official lightweight ranking and claim the biggest fights.
It’s no secret that Gaethje wants to fight Irish superstar Conor McGregor. McGregor keeps teasing his possible return but Justin thinks it’s about time for Conor to make his choice.
“On planet Earth there’s two people that will possibly fight him – me or Dustin Poirier. He’s only fought two times ever in the lightweight division. In his whole career he has fought two times. He lost won, he won one, he’s ranked three for some odd reason. He either goes away or fight. And it’s me or Dustin,” Gaethje said.
Gaethje called McGregor out more than once and he complains that, despite all his merits, he didn’t get any response from the Irish star.
“I’ve tried reversed psychology, I’m trying to be a friend, I’m trying every f**king route that there is to draw this man out and I can’t draw him out. And he’s calling out Frankie Edgar. So, it’s a slap in the face to me, to other lightweights, and to really the standard that we’re doing here.”
McGregor hasn’t stepped into the Octagon since last October when he was defeated by Russian champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. As for Gaethje, he knocked out vet Donald Cerrone less than a month ago.
