Khabib’s father says Ferguson fight will not happen in USA

Even though it was announced a few hours ago that the UFC 249 may take place in Florida, USA, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, father and coach of Russian UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0), says his son’s fight with Tony Ferguson (25-3) cannot happen in the USA.

“I can’t name the location until Dana White names it. But the USA do not allow the fight to happen, no matter what people say, we must choose another country and Dana must get compensation. No fight in the USA, it’s for sure.

“Those are the government’s problems, not ours. We’re ready for the fight, we’re ready to go out there. Khabib is charged and working hard. We don’t know how Ferguson is, no information about his camp. We want to meet him in the cage,” Abdulmanap said.

Initially, the fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson was supposed to take place in Brooklyn, New York, but due to mass events restrictions because of coronavirus the location had to be changed.

Earlier, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov said he’d like the fight to happen in Moscow, Russia.
