No more fights for Jon Jones in 2019
According to Ariel Helwani, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (25-1, 1 NC) will not fight in 2019.
HARCORD ambassador has recently teased his fans with a big announcement but later on Ariel Helwani refuted the rumors, saying that we won’t see Jones in the Octagon through the end of the year.
“All but confirms Jones won’t fight again this year. There was some talk of Nov and Dec but nothing enticing out there,” Helwani tweeted.
Last time Jon Jones stepped into the cage at the UFC 239 in June when he defeated Brazilian puncher Thiago Santos by split decision. Jones had three fights this year. He reclaimed the UFC light heavyweight title on December 30 when he knocked out Alexander Gustafsson in the third round.
In March Jones came back to defend his title. He faced former middleweight Anthony Smith who moved up the division and gave his own career a second wind. However, Jones defeated him by unanimous decision and then faced Thiago Santos.
