Petr Yan thinks Khabib vs. Tony should be held on neutral territory
Russian UFC bantamweight fighter Petr Yan (14-1) shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0) and number one contender Tony Ferguson (25-3).
“Was it the right decision to hold Khabib vs. Tony behind closed doors? I can’t answer that question. Of course, the event with fans is a different kind of event. Different buzz, different atmosphere, and the fighters feel that atmosphere. When you walk out to the full arena where everyone supports you, it inspires you a lot.
“As for the event being held in Florida or somewhere else, again, I only know that Khabib came back from the USA and what, he needs to go back there again? That’s not that good. I think it should be some neutral territory for both fighters to be under the same conditions, both Ferguson and Khabib. There should be a spot where both fighters will fly to, it should be equal to both of them. That would be fairer,” Yan said.
We remind you that the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson is still on for April 18 but its location was moved from Brooklyn, New York, to an undisclosed spot.
As for Petr Yan, he’s on an impressive nine-fight win streak with six of them being in the UFC. He had his last fight in December when he knocked out Urijah Faber in the third round.
