Stephen Thompson to face Vicente Luque at UFC in New York
Last night the UFC officially announced Stephen Thompson’s (14-4-1) next fight. UFC Brasil tweeted that former UFC welterweight title challenger will face Brazilian Vicente Luque (17-6-1) at the UFC 244 on November 2.
Thompson will try to get back to the winning streak after being knocked out by Anthony Pettis. He’s on a two-losses streak right now. Before Pettis, he had lost to Darren Till by unanimous decision in a close five-round fight. Before the losing streak Thompson had defeated Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision and that fight also took place in New York.
27-year-old Brazilian Vicente Luque will try to secure his seventh win in a row. The “Silent Assassin” won 10 of 11 last fights, defeating Mike Perry in the latest. That was the first and so far only win by decision in his career, all of the rest ended with either KO or submission.
The UFC 244 will be headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal main event with the unofficial “baddest motherf**ker” title at stake.
