Bellator announced tournament in Birmingham with Brent Primus in its main event
No sooner had Bellator to hold in England its ‘Bellator Newcastle’ tournament last weekend than the date of the next tournament on this land had already been determined.
The promotion officially announced that the next tournament in England will take place on May 4 in the city of Birmingham, and its main event will serve the bout of former lightweight champion Brent Primus against the British fighter Tim Wilde.
Brent Primus (8-1) captured the Bellator’s lightweight championship belt in 2017 at the Bellator tournament in New York, defeating Michael Chandler by technical knockout, who badly injured his ankle in the first round because of what the doctors forbade him to continue the fight. In a rematch fight that took place in December last year, Chandler took the belt from him, scoring a unanimous decision victory. This was the first defeat in the professional career of Brent Primus.
Tim Wilde (12-3) is coming off to the fight with a series of three victories in a row, which he won at regional British tournaments. He had his last fight last April as part of the Golden Ticket Fight Promotions promotion when he beat Anthony Dizy by technical knockout in the second round. Wilde has also performed in the famous British promotions such as ‘Cage Warriors’ and ‘BAMMA’.
