BRITISH STAR TYSON FURY IS READY TO FIGHT DILLIAN WHYTE ONLY IF DIMOND BELT IS AT STAKE
In a month we’ll see British heavyweight Tyson Fury coming back to the ring in his fight against less-known German boxer Tom Schwarz. This is going to be the first bout for Fury after signing to Top Rank promotion.
Most fans expected Fury to set for an immediate rematch against Deontay Wilder but Tyson took a different path for which he was much criticized. The WBC has recently offered Fury a fight for the interim title against another top Brit Dillian Whyte. Today, Fury responded:
“I just want to say a special message to the WBC, who supported me in my comeback and been very fair with me over the years. I recently saw your quote about fighting for the interim title against Dillian Whyte and I’m very thankful for the opportunity. But what I suggest is, because I beat Deontay Wilder and we all know what happened, I didn’t get the decision, but I still won and the world knows. I propose that we make me and Dillian Whyte for the WBC 'diamond' belt and not the interim belt. I’ll take care of Dillian Whyte and I’ll knock him out within six rounds. I accept the challenge, thank you very much. I’ll fight Dillian Whyte every day of the week and twice on a Sunday,” Fury stated.
Tyson Fury (27-0-1, 19 KO) vs Tom Schwarz will take place at the legendary MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 15. The British boxer had his last fight in December against Wilder. That time Fury dominated over his opponent for the most part of the bout but two knockdowns Deontay managed allowed him to snatch the draw and keep the belt.
Dillian Whyte (25-1, 18 KO) will return to the ring on July 20 against undefeated Columbian heavyweight Oscar Rivas. The bout will take place at O2 in London.
