Dana White: "After the suspension ends, I like to see Conor fight this summer"

UFC boss Dana White hopes to see his main fighter Conor McGregor’s Octagon return this summer.

Former two-division champ Conor McGregor will be eligible to fight in April. The thing is, that “The Notorious” serves Nevada State Athletic Commission's six-month suspension for his main role in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl that occurred right after the fight with the champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

One of the main and discussed opponents for McGregor’s return this summer is Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, who made his return to lightweight last month and destroyed young ‘killer’ in the person of Alexander Hernandez. UFC boss hopes to sit at the negotiation table right after Conor’s suspension ends.

“These two men want to fight each other so bad and they’ve both earned this opportunity.” - White told reporters during UFC 234 pre-fight press conference.

“Cowboy fought anybody we’ve ever put against him. We put him against young killer Alexander Hernandez and ‘Cowboy’ being the underdog went out there and did it the way he always does, then Conor’s fought everybody. If these two want to fight, I’m down. After the suspension ends, I like to see Conor fight this summer.”

Recall that Conor McGregor last fight took place against high-profile Russian phenom Khabib Nurmagomedov. The fight turned out to be quite dominant for the Russian champion and it was he who submitted the scandalous Irishman in round 4.

As for Donald Cowboy‘s last fight with lightweight sensation Alexander Hernandez, it served the UFC’s debut on ESPN+ network which took place on January 19th in Brooklyn. Donald put on a great show for fans, dominated over cocky Alex Hernandez and knocked him out in round 2 via head-kick.
