Floyd Mayweather on Gervonta Davis: "He is fighting Tenshin in an exhibition match in Japan, in RIZIN"
Today, WBA super featherweight champion Gervonta Davis added to his professional record another vicious inside-the-distance victory, knocking out the Mexican boxer Hugo Ruiz.
Davis needed just one round to knock out former lightweight champion Hugo Ruiz, who replaced injured Abner Mares just ten days before the fight.
After the fight, Gervonta Davis’ promoter Floyd Mayweather shared the future plans for his unbeaten fighter. According to him, in April, Davis will touch down in Japan, where he will hold an exhibition fight against talented 20-years-old baby-faced kickboxing wunderkind Tenshin Nasukawa.
"We're talking about May for Davis' next fight if that's okay with him. He got an exhibition bout with the guy Tenshin in Japan, in April. He is fighting Tenshin in an exhibition match in Japan, in RIZIN. I'm proud of Tank. He is going to stay active. So first it's Tenshin in April and then in May it's the real fight," - Mayweather said.
Recall that Floyd Mayweather himself flew to Japan not so long ago to take part in an exhibition fight against Tenshin Nasukawa on the New Year’s RIZIN show. In this bout, Mayweather scored the first-round victory knocking down Nasukawa three times.
After the fight, many criticized Floyd Mayweather for the fact that their fight looked too staged, plus moreover, Nasukawa performed at the featherweight and was significantly smaller than Mayweather, who was larger and heavier than him, almost for 20 pounds.
