Israel Adesanya responds to Chris Weidman's and Paulo Costa's criticism: "I don’t give a f*ck about what these guys are doing"
After Israel Adesanya’s huge victory over Anderson Silva at the UFC 234 tournament last weekend, two middleweight fighters were unhappy with his performance, about what they wrote about in their Twitter accounts.
Former UFC 185-pound champion Chris Weidman did it in a softer manner, writing that he thinks Adesanya is “slightly overrated,” while Brazilian middleweight Paulo Costa called Israel a “scrawny clown” and promised to finish him off in two rounds. Today, on the weekly program The MMA Hour, Adesanya commented on it as follows:
“Have you ever seen me talk sh*t about someone after their fight?” - Adesanya said. “They’re trying to get some shine because I’m the guy in the public eye. I didn’t pay any attention to Chris Weidman’s words I’m overrated. OK, why, because he beat Silva a little bit more conveniently than I did. You know. I’m overrated. Interesting. I could say the same thing about him. Heavily. Yeah, When I get this belt in my next fight, they can all line up and they can find out how overrated I am. And Chris Weidman, that’s his opinion, that’s his point of view, and I don’t have to pay any attention to it.”
While Adesanya reacted the words of Chris Weidman more or less condescendingly, in the case of Paulo Costa, he did not hold his tongue and completely fired back at the undefeated Brazilian one-punch knockout-machine.
“Now, what’s his name, little juice monkey, Paula. He is my bitch. What did he say again? He said something about I wouldn’t last two rounds with him. See he, Silva, that fight with me and him was just physical chess. Was the highest level of striking. It was just, if you know about footwork, complexities of footwork, it was fascinating to watch. For a guy like Paula, he’s a walking punching bag, walking punching bag, juiced up, blown up and throws body shots and heavy, heavy, heavy. Bring that ass over here.”
“Uriah Hall was just jabbing him up,” - Adesanya continued. “How the f*ck are you going to hit me with those little T-Rex arms. If I’m behind those jabs, the things that I follow up will be much, much different, so, yeah. A guy like that he should just focus on his fight he’s got next Yoel Romero and yeah, let them talk.”
“I don’t give a f*ck about what these guys are doing. I just give a f*ck about me. And anytime I do something, any time I breathe. Let these guys tweet, say something foolish.”
Recall that Paulo Costa will hold the next fight on April 27 against Yoel Romero at the UFC on ESPN 3 tournament in Miami.
According to UFC President Dana White, Israel Adesanya is the main contender for the middleweight title. At the moment, he has five consecutive victories, including victories over Brad Tavares, Derek Brunson (whom he knocked out in the first round) and Anderson Silva.
