Montana De La Rosa wants to face Paige VanZant: "I want to get my name out there a little bit more"
The 23-year-old representative of the UFC’s flyweight division Montana De La Rosa after an inside-the-distance victory at the last UFC 234 tournament, is considering the possibility of squaring off against well-known Paige VanZant.
De La Rosa, 'TUF season 26' winner, took part in the main card of the pay-per-view tournament and now the fighter wants to get paid more as her assets are higher primarily thanks to her 3-0 record in the Octagon of the world’s leading league.
“I’m not where I want to be financially, so of course, I want to keep getting more and more money. If I’m on the pay-per-view, I might as well be getting paid what the pay-per-view fighters get paid,” - Montana said.
“I’m 3-0 in the division - that’s the most wins any of the girls have in the division. I’m right there with the best of the best. I kind of talked about fighting Paige VanZant just to get my name out there a little bit more. I don’t know where I sit from here on out. I think I got my name out a little bit here on this pay-per-view card, so whatever the UFC wants to give me.”
Recall that De La Rosa in her last fight last weekend managed to submit Nadia Kassem via armbar in the second round and inflict her first career loss.
As for Paige VanZant, her last fight took place on January 19th at UFC’s on ESPN+ debut when she squared off against Rachael Ostovich and made her tap as well in round 2 via the same armbar submission.
