Rizvan Magomedov: "Khabib’s chances to hold next fight in Abu Dhabi on September 7th are 90%"
Undefeated and undisputed UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (27-0) currently in Saint Petersburg where he arrived to support his brother and main sparring partner Islam Makhachev who on Saturday night serves the co-main event of ‘UFC on ESPN 7+: Overeem vs. Oleinik’ tournament.
Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s manager and close mate Rizvan Magomedov also arrived in Saint Petersburg and during today’s media day dedicated to UFC Saint Petersburg event, the manager spoke with some media and revealed some details about the next possible step of “The Eagle”.
“I think Khabib’s chances to hold next fight in Abu Dhabi on September 7th are 90%. We are working on that,” - the manager said.
“Next guy on the line is probably Dustin Poirier [newly crowned interim UFC lightweight champion], however, it is not for sure yet. There is a bunch of other options - it all depends on the UFC management. But as for today, Dustin Poirier is priority number 1.”
Recall that Khabib Nurmagomedov still serves Nevada State Athletic Commission suspension in the case of a mass brawl that occurred after his fight versus scandalous Irish fighter, former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor. The suspension ends on July 6th and then ‘The Eagle’ will be eligible to return to a cage.
