Roxanne Modafferi thinks the judges should have made it unanimous decision in her fight against Antonina Shevchenko

Roxanne Modafferi (23-15) that is #5 in the official UFC women’s flyweight rankings will return to the Octagon in a month to have a fight against Liz Carmouche (13-6).

Harcord team talked to the top fighter to know more on her expectations from her next fight and her thoughts on the training:

“I'm so excited to fight Liz. I know she's a very tough, talented fighter, and I'm looking forward to proving that I can overcome any challenges she brings in the fight. I'm always working to get stronger and more technical. I'll need everything in order to defeat her. I have to work my striking and wrestling game, of course.”

Roxanne had her last fight at the event in Saint-Petersburg against Antonina Shevchenko. She was an underdog but managed to make an upset and win by split decision. We wanted to know what impressions that fight left on her and if she was happy with the decision:

“I'm always an underdog so I don't think much of it anymore. I'm so unassuming - I don't look like a fighter - and my style isn't 'scary.' However, I can get the job done. I've never been beat up bloody or overwhelmed in a fight. I knew Antonina was dangerous on the feet, but I was confident that I could negate that with my grappling. I don't think a split decision was accurate because I never felt very hurt, but I'm grateful I got the win.”

The full version of the interview will be available on our site tomorrow.

Roxanne Modafferi vs. Liz Carmouche will take place at the UFC on ESPN 4 in San Antonio on July 20. Rafael dos Anjos vs. Leon Edwards will headline the event.
