Santiago Ponzinibbio eyes to face Tyron Woodley: "I think he would be a great option and I'm going to knock him out"
UFC’s promising welterweight, Santiago Ponzinibbio, has ceased to hope that his fight with Rafael dos Anjos will ever take place. Now the Argentinean fighter intends to fight with the former UFC welterweight king Tyron Woodley.
“The reality is, Rafael dos Anjos said he wanted to fight me, but actually he didn’t. He never asked for a fight with me in the US, never insisted on doing it. The truth is that he just didn’t want a fight with me,”
“I need to fight. Right now I’m at one of the best stages of my career, I’m ready to become a world champion, and I don’t want to stay inactive. I think Tyron Woodley would be a great option. I demonstrated each time that I was ready to become a champion. I did even more than Woodley before he got a title fight. So I know for sure that I am ready to meet him,”
“The Nigerian Nightmare” Kamaru Usman dethroned Tyron Woodley by out-classing him throughout 5-rounds of the championship bout earlier this month and became the first UFC champ from Africa. In the case of the Argentinean Santiago Ponzinibbio, he promises not just to get victories over “T-Wood” but to knock him out.
“I will knock Tyron out, then in the title fight, I will knock out Kamaru Usman. In 2019, I will be the next welterweight champion,“ - said Santiago.
Recall that in the last fight, which took place at the UFC Fight Night 140 tournament last November, Santiago Ponzinibbio knocked out Neil Magny. This victory was for him the seventh in a row.
