FAMOUS JUDGE HAROLD LEDERMAN PASSED AWAY AT 79
On May 11, the boxing world went into mourning. Famous boxing judge Harold Lederman, also known as the unofficial scorekeeper for HBO Boxing, passed away in the USA.
Lederman died after several years of battling cancer. Doctors tried to do everything they could but the battle was lost. The legendary judge died on May 11 at 79 years of age.
Harold Lederman started his professional career as a boxing judge in 1967. In 1986 he joined HBO cast where he had been working till 2018. That year the channel stopped broadcasting boxing tournaments.
Officially, Lederman stopped judging the bouts in 1999 but he remained an unofficial scorekeeper at HBO. In 2016 he was included in the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Harold Lederman’s daughter Julie Lederman followed in her father’s steps and is now working as a boxing judge.
