Kamaru Usman: "I’ll be back in the shortest possible time and you know whom I’m going to beat"
The newly-crowned UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman successfully underwent surgery on Tuesday at the hospital in Philadelphia, where he was removed a double hernia after a fight with Tyron Woodley.
After the surgery, the fighter turned to his fans on Instagram:
“I thought it would be something like a knee surgery, which I went through before, I thought it would be something like this,” - says Usman. “But it wasn’t even close to the knee surgery. It was a completely different shit,”
Kamaru Usman captured the championship belt at the UFC 235 tournament, scoring the dominant victory over Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision of the judges with a score of 50-45, 50-44 and 50-44. This victory was for him the tenth consecutive victory in the octagon.
It is not yet known when ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ will be able to return to the cage, but it is already very clear who will be his next opponent.
“I’ll be back in the shortest possible time and you know whom I’m going to beat,” - said Usman, clearly hinting at former interim champion Colby Covington.
The scandalous Colby Covington has been waiting for a title fight since he won the interim title last summer in a fight against Rafael dos Anjos. During this time, the undisputed welterweight championship belt was at stake twice - in the fights of Tyron Woodley with Darren Till and Kamaru Usman.
